Okay, if I were you, there’s no way I would believe this story but it still happened. I was in the soup aisle of the grocery store and so was another lady. Unlike myself, she had her car keys in her hand. Also unlike me, she dropped them. And the contraption came completely apart. She looked a bit surprised to see a loose battery, a little computer board and two plastic pieces on the floor. And she became like a deer in the headlights but before I could even say “It’s a good thing you have a key”, she asked how she could get into her car. NO!! I did NOT just hear that!! I said, with as little sarcasm in my voice as possible, “Your key. Luckily, they still make those”.
Her: “But won’t the alarm system go off?”
Me: “Only if it’s someone else’s car you’re trying to open it with. Even then it would be their alarm, not yours.”
She ended up putting the battery back in, then snapped the case back together. And then realized that she hadn’t inserted the little computer board that makes it all work. Sigh. I gave up and grabbed some soup so I could take it home to my sick husband.
That’s my true story and I’m sticking to it.
