Fergie sounds better on CD

starcar - March 31st, 2008 - No Comments »

The Tempe Music Festival was this weekend, and let me say for the most part it rocked. Cowboy Mouth rocked, Eve 6 was fantastic (although it looked like they were mad at each other), The Gin Blossoms were fantastic even including their son in act, but the big disappointment to me was Fergie…

After taking the stage and telling us she was not pregnant she went on to sing…kind of. She must have been having an off night vocally, or her producer did wonders for her on her album. Then half way through the act she left her band on stage to perform solos while she took her sweet time to change. All in all Fergie maybe preformed 6 of her own songs.

To me it seemed liked Fergie rather be anywhere than on the stage at the Tempe Music Festival. It was the Gin Blossoms, Eve 6 and Cowboy Mouth who all rocked and out preformed “The Dutchess.” It was a great weekend of music despite the weak performance from Fergie.

Irish Idol?

starcar - March 12th, 2008 - 1 Comment »

Will find out tonight who is the first of the top 12 voted off American Idol, and it will be a tough choice. Last night most of the performances were horrible even though AI says this is the best top 12 EVER! David A. who is supposed to be the front runner forgot the words to his song. But even with that he is not the one that I want voted off.

I want Carly Smithson to go. She keeps talking about how she is Irish, her family is Irish, and she misses all her friends in Ireland. I thought we were looking an American Idol, not and Irish Idol. If she doesn’t go this week lets band together and get her to go next and remind America, it is their Idol.

Extra Curricular Idols

starcar - March 4th, 2008 - No Comments »

Extra Curricular activity is the buzz on the America Idol this week as racy revelations have come out about 3 of the top 16. Last season it was Antonella Barba with some ill fated pics that ultimately assisted her exit before the illustrious top 12. Or could be that she just wasn’t good…we’ll never know.

Now the focus turns to Ramiele, David, and Amanda from this season. Coming to surface are some nude and racy photos of Ramiele and Amanda, not together but of them individually from other times in their lives. Fox has not commented on the status of the girls, but we know from the court of public opinion that it could be over for both of them.

Not to be out done by the girl’s extra curricular activity, it is new news that David Hernandez from Glendale was a stripper for Dick’s Cabaret where he danced nude and gave lap dances to a mostly male clientele. Again no comment from Fox, but this could severely hurt the chances of David making it to the top 12.

The new power rankings are out as another elimination week begins. On top for the guys is David Archuleta, close behind is Michael Johns, then Jason Castro, with David Hernandez rounding out the top 4.

For the girls Brooke White from Mesa is on top of the rankings, with Carly Smithson, Ramiele Malubay, and Syesha Mercado behind Brooke.

The pressure is on this week for those idols who have not kept their nose clean to in the competition.

Oprah is Big

starcar - March 3rd, 2008 - 1 Comment »

I have learned after watching the show Oprah’s Big Give that in order to “Give Big” I have to the do the following:

1. Use the Yellow pages to make cold calls and I’ll be able to get a corporate sponsor like Target

2. I can call my good friends like Jamie Foxx (name drop) and he’ll donate 50 grand just because I called…and I also dropped Oprah’s name

3. The best option for a car giveaway is a Used Ford Taurus !

Each week Oprah’s judges kick off one person who did not Give Big, and the person who is left standing is the biggest giver and the biggest receiver and will win 1 million dollars.

There are some good qualities to show, but overall it is just a “Big Give” to Oprah’s Ego. Besides Scott Krammer on the Peak Weekends, I did find one fan that can’t get enough of Oprah, Charlie….
